Cameroon Household Solar-Storage System Successfully Deployed, Helping Users Solve Power Supply Challenges

2025-12-02

In 2025, as instability in Cameroon’s national power grid continues to worsen, a local household has successfully completed the installation of a home solar-plus-storage system supplied by Highjoule(HJ Group) . This project is not only one of the many small-scale solar-storage deployments delivered by Highjoule(HJ Group) but also a demonstration of the company’s comprehensive capabilities in technology, logistics, and installation across Africa and worldwide.

Project Background: Severe Power Supply Issues in Cameroon

The Southern Interconnected Grid operated by Eneo, Cameroon’s national electric utility, has faced significant supply shortages in recent years. Since 2024, many regions have reported daily power outages lasting 6–8 hours. These blackouts are largely caused by reduced output from power plants and hydropower stations, as well as overloaded transmission lines and transformer failures.

According to the Ministry of Energy, power generation has declined in several dams due to insufficient water levels. The national grid also suffers from aging infrastructure and high transmission and distribution losses. As a result, residents frequently experience rotational load shedding and unplanned outages, severely affecting daily life and household power stability.

Project Overview: 5 kWp – 5 kW – 5 kWh Home Solar-Storage System

To address the customer’s unstable power supply, Highjoule(HJ Group) designed a customized residential solar-plus-storage solution:

  • Solar Generation:5 kWp of photovoltaic panels to provide renewable daytime electricity.
  • Hybrid Inverter:5 kW output to support both solar generation and nighttime household loads.
  • Battery Storage:5 kWh capacity to power essential appliances—lighting, home electronics, and small devices—during nighttime or outages.

Highjoule(HJ Group)’s installation team mounted aluminum rails, fixed the brackets, and completed all system connections on the customer’s rooftop. The entire process was carried out professionally and in accordance with safety standards, ensuring reliable long-term operation.

Results & Benefits

Stable Power During Outages
The system enables the household to maintain essential electricity even during grid blackouts or load shedding, significantly improving comfort and safety.

Long-Term Cost Savings
By using self-generated solar power combined with battery backup, the customer reduces reliance on expensive and unreliable grid electricity.

Clean and Sustainable Energy
Solar power cuts dependence on fossil fuels and supports local sustainable development efforts.

Outlook

Although the Nachtigal hydropower plant went into operation between 2024 and 2025—expected to boost national grid capacity—transmission bottlenecks and incomplete substations continue to limit power distribution efficiency. Under these circumstances, distributed solar-plus-storage systems have become an increasingly important solution to the household power shortage problem.

Looking ahead, Highjoule(HJ Group) plans to expand its home energy storage solutions across Cameroon and other similar regions, helping more families gain access to reliable electricity while contributing to the transition toward clean and sustainable energy.
