This mobile solar-storage-EV charging project in Romania combines 184kWp of photovoltaic capacity with a 500kW/approximately 1MWh battery energy storage system. Supporting solar, grid, and diesel-generator charging, the solution provides flexible and reliable off-grid power for EV charging stations.

1. Project Configuration

The project adopts an AC-coupled solar, energy storage, and EV charging system. The EV charging equipment is provided by the customer.

Main system configuration:

  • 5 photovoltaic inverters
  • 2 × 500kVA Static Transfer Switches (STS)
  • 5 × 100kW/215kWh battery energy storage cabinets
  • Total PV capacity: 184kWp
  • Total energy storage capacity: 500kW/approximately 1MWh

2. Application

The system is designed for deployment in Romania and surrounding European countries.

The project includes:

  • 4 × 10-foot mobile foldable solar containers
  • 5 × 215kWh battery energy storage cabinets installed on mobile platforms
  • EV charging stations constructed and operated by the customer

3. Operating Mode

  1. Solar-powered off-grid operation:
    During the daytime, the mobile foldable solar containers generate electricity to charge the battery storage systems. At night, the fully charged storage units are transported to the EV charging station to provide power for electric vehicles.
  2. Alternative charging during poor weather:
    When solar generation is insufficient, the mobile battery systems can be transported to a nearby grid transformer station for charging. After charging, they are moved back to the EV charging site. Diesel generators can also be used as an alternative charging source when necessary.
